Wallace Mann
Orchestral Audition
and Masterclass Competition
To be held at the
Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair
February 17, 2008
Competition

The Wallace Mann Orchestral Audition and Masterclass
Competition is open to flutists who are age 18-25 by February 1, 2008,
live or
attend school in Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia or West
Virginia and
are capable of demonstrating a high level of playing ability. This
competition
is in two sections: an actual mock audition followed by a masterclass.
Up to
four finalists will be chosen to perform a mock audition at the
Mid-Atlantic
Flute Fair, where prizes of $500 and $250 will be awarded.
A masterclass will be held with finalists
playing excerpts selected from the mock audition round repertoire.
All recordings must be on compact disc with no speaking on
the recording. A written application including name, address,
telephone, email
address, date of birth, flute teacher and a short biographical sketch
(under
100 words) should be mailed along with a $15 fee (check made payable to
Flute
Society of Washington) and recording to:

Accompaniment is not necessary for this recording. Entries must be post
marked by December 31, 2007,
and received by January 5, 2008.
All finalists must register for the
Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair. The decision of
the judges is final.
