Adult Amateur Convention Performers Competition

The Adult Amateur Convention Performers Competition is for flutists, over the age of 25 (as of February 1, 2026), who study flute only as a hobby and reside in a Mid-Atlantic state as defined in the 2026 General Competition Information, Rules and Regulations. Applicants must not regularly receive income from playing or teaching the flute and cannot hold or be currently pursuing a degree in flute performance or music education above the bachelor's degree.

Flutists will be selected on the basis of their recorded audition to perform in recital at the convention. All works for flute and keyboard must be recorded using both instruments. Chamber ensembles should be no more than 5 players and can include instruments besides flute. Some flutists, at the discretion of the committee, may also be selected to perform other works in programs at the convention. Staff accompanist will be provided at no fee to the selected performers.

Requirements:

  1. Online application and fee $25
  2. Submit a recording containing music the applicant wishes to perform in recital, if selected, not to exceed ten (10) minutes.
