Adult Amateur Convention Performers Competition

The Adult Amateur Convention Performers Competition is for flutists, over the age of 25 (as of February 1, 2024), who study flute only as a hobby and reside in a Mid-Atlantic state as defined above. Applicants must not regularly receive income from playing or teaching the flute and not hold or be currently pursuing a degree in flute performance or music education above the bachelor's degree.

Flutists will be selected on the basis of their recorded audition to perform in recital at the convention. All works for flute and keyboard must be recorded using both instruments. Chamber ensembles should be no more than 5 players and include instruments besides flute. Some flutists, at the discretion of the committee, may also be selected to perform other works in programs at the convention. Staff accompanist will be provided at no fee to the selected performers.

Due to the change from in-person to virtual for the 2022 convention, selected performers from the 2022 competition are eligible for the 2024 convention.

Requirements:

  1. Online application and fee $25
  2. Submit a recording containing music the applicant wishes to perform in recital, if selected, not to exceed ten (10) minutes.

*Applicants are subject to all rules and regulations on this page as well as the 2024 General Competition Information, Rules and Regulations.
