Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention

Collegiate Soloist

The Collegiate Soloist Competition is for outstanding flutists under the age of 28 (as of February 1, 2022), who are enrolled as an undergraduate at a college, university, or conservatory located in a Mid-Atlantic state as defined above, or have their residence of record in a Mid-Atlantic states as defined above.  Three finalists will be selected to perform at the annual Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention.  Cash prizes ($300, $200, and $100) will be awarded. Previous first prizewinners are not eligible to participate. Applicants must be a student member of FSW. All works for flute and keyboard must be recorded using both instruments. 



  1. Online application and fee, $25
  2. A preliminary round recording containing CPE Bach Hamburger Sonata in G Major (no repeats) and Hüe Fantasie.
  3. Final round repertoire: J.S. Bach, Sarabande, Partita in A  Minor, BWV 1013 [repeats and ornamentation are at the discretion of the performer]  and Valerie Coleman, Danza de la Mariposa.
