Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention

Collegiate Soloist Competition
The Collegiate Soloist Competition is for outstanding flutists under the age of 28 (as of February 1, 2024), who are enrolled as an undergraduate at a college, university, or conservatory located in a Mid-Atlantic state or have their residence of record in a Mid-Atlantic state as defined in the general competition rules*. Three finalists will be selected for the final round held at the annual Mid-Atlantic Flute Convention. Cash prizes of $300, $200 & $100 will be awarded. Applicants must be a current student member of the FSW at date of application. All works for flute and keyboard must be recorded using both instruments. Previous first prizewinners are not eligible to participate.
Requirements*:
- Online application and fee, $25
- Submit a preliminary round recording containing the following: Benjamin Godard, Suite de Trois Morceaux, Op. 166, III. Valse, (any edition for flute & piano) and Katherine Hoover, Etudes for flute, No. 9 Allegro molto, (Papagens Press)
- Final round repertoire: Eugène Bozza, Image pour flute seule, (Leduc) and G.P. Telemann, Fantasy No. 8 in E minor (no repeats -any edition)
